Exclusive for guests Moorheads on-site fishing lake
Our on-site fishing lake is free to use for guests staying in our apartments.
For campers a day ticket costs £10 and 24 hours £25.
You can catch a variety of fish including Carp, Bream, Perch & Rudd.
To use our lake you will need an EA Licence which you can read more about and purchase by visiting https://www.gov.uk/fishing-licences
You are required to bring your own equiptment, however if you forget your landing net and mat, please ask for one at reception.
All fish caught must be returned to the lake.
How to get there:
The Lake at Moorhead can be found at the furthest point from the main accommodation. You can reach it by going across the pitch and putt course and down the hill through the gap at the bottom right corner, you will reach it in just a couple of minutes.
Wildlife:
The lake is over an acre and in the summer months comes to life with an array of wildlife; including kingfishers, snipe, Canadian Geese, moorhens, butterflies, damson flies and dragon flies.
Fishing: Bring your own equiptment.
To fish an EA licence must be held. We reserve the right to check all licences and rigs.
The lake is stocked with carp (up to 25 lb) Bream, Perch, Roach and Rudd.
Don’t expect any easy catches and expect a good fight!
Our fishing lake is private and exclusively for holiday guests and free to use during your stay will us.
As our lake is not over fished you will see when caught the fish are in pristine condition, so to keep them this way we have a few simple fishing rules.
All fishing mats, nets and slings must be sanitised before use at the lake, the sanitiser can be found at reception.
Please ensure you use: Barbless hooks, 42 inc landing net and mat (preferably wet) and fish safe rigs. This site Does have a catch-and-return fishing policy in place.
Please don’t use: Keep nets, trout pellets, and dog biscuits.
For carp fishing a 10 lb line is minimum requirement.
Should you not have the required equipment fishing will not be authorised for the duration of your stay. All Fish must be returned to the lake in a careful and safe manor.
Children’s safety:
Please supervise all children under the age of 16 – the water is very deep in places and the edges can get very slippery especially in the winter months.
There is strictly no swimming in the lake including dogs. A lifebelt is at the end of the lake.
What is the best bait? That’s up to you! Boilies, sweetcorn, luncheon meat and worms. For smaller fish maggots work well.
We reserve the right to check all licences and rigs.
When you are finished please pick up and dispose of all litter including discarded fishing items
If any items of fishing tackle are tangled in foliage then please report them to reception
